
A graduate of the Journalism and Communication School of Marseille in France, David Fabrega is the creator of the production company Leopold Films. Since 2010, his cinematographic projects have led him to travel to all continents. Now based in Occitania, Leopold Films produces and directs documentary films for movie theatres, television and digital platforms, with a special focus on human migrations and their positive impact to the evolution of contemporary societies. David Fabrega is also specialized in fiction short movies combining cinema and puppetry.
His first film, Biodiversity: an odyssey, is recommended by the United Nations and has been released on television at TV5 Monde and Science & Vie TV. His theatrical film about the return of the Cuban diaspora, Return to Cuba, is now available on Amazon Prime in the USA and was part of the official selection at the Africa World Documentary Film Festival and the Latin America Film Festival of Montreal in 2016. His short documentary directed in Vietnam, Little Big Leaf, is broadcast at the CBC, Canadian first TV channel. In 2019, his docufiction on immigrant painter, Toro, is supported by a grant from the Canada Council for the Arts and available in 2021 at Arts.film streaming platform and ShortsTV channel. 2023 is equally a prolific year with the production of the documentary The heart in winter, and his first fiction film with puppets, Le Serpent vert, supported by the Conseil des Arts et des Lettres du Québec.
